Is Your Device eSIM Compatible?
Before purchasing a Diva eSIM plan, check whether your device supports eSIM technology. An eSIM is a digital SIM built into compatible phones and tablets — letting you activate a mobile data plan without a physical SIM card.
What Does eSIM Compatible Mean?
An eSIM-compatible device has built-in digital SIM technology. Instead of placing a physical SIM card into your phone, you install a mobile data plan digitally using a QR code, activation code, or app-based setup.
This makes travel connectivity easier — no SIM card shop, no waiting at the airport, no swapping your physical SIM, and no reliance on expensive roaming packages. To use a Diva eSIM, your device must meet two main requirements.
Your Device Supports eSIM
Your phone or tablet must have built-in eSIM technology, so a mobile data plan can be installed digitally using a QR code, activation code, or app — no physical SIM card required.
Your Device Is Carrier-Unlocked
Your device must be free of carrier restrictions. A locked phone can only use its original network, which may prevent you from installing or using a travel eSIM from another provider.
Carrier-Locked Phone
Can only use mobile services from the original network provider. It may not allow you to install or use a travel eSIM from another provider.
Carrier-Unlocked Phone
Gives you more freedom. You can install international eSIM plans and use mobile data while traveling in supported destinations.
Why Your Device Must Be Carrier-Unlocked
Even if your phone supports eSIM, it must also be unlocked from carrier restrictions. A carrier-locked phone can only use mobile services from its original network provider.
If your phone is locked, it may not allow you to install or use a travel eSIM from another provider. An unlocked phone gives you the freedom to install international eSIM plans and stay connected abroad.
Before purchasing a Diva eSIM plan, we recommend checking both your eSIM compatibility and your carrier-unlocked status.
How to Check if Your Phone Supports eSIM
You can usually check eSIM support directly from your phone settings in just a few taps.
For iPhone
- 1 Open Settings.
- 2 Tap Cellular or Mobile Data.
- 3 Look for Add eSIM or Add Cellular Plan.
- 4 If you see this option, your iPhone likely supports eSIM.
For Android
- 1 Open Settings.
- 2 Go to Network & Internet, Connections, or Mobile Network.
- 3 Tap SIM Manager, SIMs, or Mobile Network.
- 4 Look for Add eSIM, Download SIM, Add Mobile Plan, or Scan QR Code.
Important Device Notes
A few details that can affect whether eSIM works on your specific device.
SIM support can depend on the exact model, country of purchase, carrier, and software version.
description: Some phones support eSIM in one country but not in another.
Some models sold in Mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macao may not support eSIM.
Some phones may support eSIM only after a software update.
Some devices store multiple eSIM profiles, but only one or two may be active at the same time.
Some newer phones are eSIM-only in specific regions and do not include a physical SIM card tray.

What If My Device Isn't Ready?
Two common situations and what you can do to get connected.
If Your Phone Doesn't Support eSIM
You won't be able to install a digital eSIM plan directly on that device. Instead, you can:
- Use another eSIM-compatible phone
- Check whether your device supports an eSIM adapter
- Contact your manufacturer or mobile carrier for options
If Your Phone Is Locked
A carrier-locked phone may stop the eSIM from activating properly. To resolve this:
- Contact your mobile carrier and ask to unlock the device
- Confirm your phone is fully unlocked before purchasing
- Once unlocked, install a compatible travel eSIM and connect
